Restaurants & Nightlife

RESTAURANTS

Whether you are dining out in North or South Cyprus you will find English speaking staff. The price of eating out varies according to location and the types of food served. You will pay a lot more in the tourist hot spots than if you go where the locals eat.  A 10 % service charge is added to the bill in most hotels and restaurants, so tipping is not obligatory, but small change is always welcome. Restaurants are very child friendly. If you want a quiet evening at home and don't feel like cooking, there are plenty of take-away restaurants scattered all over the island that will deliver to your door.

FAST-FOOD

There are numerous fast food restaurants in Cyprus, serving a variety of food, ranging from kebabs, burgers and chicken dishes to pizza or Chinese food. You will find a lot more of these in the southern part of the island than in the north. Nearly all places deliver, mostly free of charge.

PATISSERIES

If you have a sweet tooth then there are plenty of patisseries where you can try a variety of local delicacies like baklava, a pastry filled with nuts and covered in syrup, or halva, sweet slices of ground sesame seeds and sugar. These are nearly always accompanied with coffee and water.

For a lively evening out there are plenty of bars and pubs to choose from all over the island. Many of the pubs are open in the day as well as the evening, and they often serve food and have live entertainment. Children are welcome in many places.

CLUBS

There are discos in all the main cities in Cyprus. The bigger ones are in Agia Napa where you can find more than 20 clubs, some of which are open until 8am. Nicosia is a cosmopolitan city with plenty of night life. There are clubs and discos built into the Green Line divide, funky nightspots with chrome bars and intimate dance floors.
