Travelling to Cyprus
By Camilla Kaas Stock
If you want to go to North Cyprus from England you have two basic options. You can fly to Ercan Airport, but because the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is not recognized as a valid state, you would have to make a stopover in Turkey. The other option is to take a direct flight to Larnaca or Paphos Airport and then go across the border. A lot of people pre-arrange for a taxi from the North to pick them up and take them across the border and on to their destination. It is not a large island and taxi fares are reasonable. The other option is to hire a car in the South and take it a cross the border. This is allowed, but you will have to buy extra insurance on the border. Just remember that if you rent a car in the North you still can't take it into the South.
